Purpose:
Effective marketing depends on excluding companies you don’t care about and focusing on those you do. Channel99 enables this by letting you build dynamic audiences, share them with targeted advertising vendors, and measure results accurately across your reporting.
How it works
- Create audiences using rules and company data.
- Share (activate) those audiences to connected vendors.
- Channel99 refreshes audiences daily and measures performance in reporting.
Step-by-step
Navigate to Audiences
- Go to the Audiences tab from the main navigation.
- You’ll land on the Audiences Overview page, where you can see and manage all audiences.
Find and manage existing audiences
- Browse your list of audiences. There’s no limit to how many you can create.
- Use the search bar to find an audience by name when your list is long.
- For each audience, you’ll see:
- Companies: the current number of companies in the audience
- Visits (Last 30 Days): recent engagement volume
- Status: Processing (if newly created/updated) or Ready
- Actions available per audience:
- Edit: update rules, description, or settings
- Delete: remove an audience you no longer need
View activation status and start new activations
- Scroll or pan to the right to locate the Activated column.
- Here you can:
- See which vendors the audience is already shared with
- Click the plus (+) icon to start a new activation
- Activation flow:
- Select the connected vendor and confirm details
- Channel99 sends the audience to the vendor
- Vendors typically take up to 48 hours to process before the audience is usable in their platform
- Dynamic updates:
- Your shared audiences are refreshed every 24 hours, automatically adding or removing companies that meet the criteria—eliminating manual list maintenance.
Drill into Audience Details
- Click an audience name to open the Audience Details page.
- Review a granular list of companies, including:
- Company Name
- Domain
- Visits in the last 30 days
- Last Visit Date (last time a user from that company visited your site)
- Use the search field to quickly find a specific company within the audience.
Apply audiences in reporting
- Once an audience is processed, open any reporting screen in Channel99.
- Use the Audience selector in the upper-right corner to apply the audience filter.
- Reports that support audience filtering will refresh to show metrics specific to the selected audience.
Best practices
- Keep names clear and consistent: include purpose or segment details (e.g., “High-Intent NA – 30d”).
- Monitor processing status before activating or applying in reporting.
- Activate only what you need: share to vendors where you’ll run targeted campaigns.
- Revisit performance: use reporting filters to assess how each audience performs over time.
Troubleshooting
- Audience shows “Processing” for an extended period:
- Refresh later; if it persists beyond expected windows, contact support.
- Audience not appearing in vendor after activation:
- Allow up to 48 hours for vendor processing.
- Confirm the connection is healthy in your integrations.
- Unexpected company counts:
- Review audience rules and lookback settings if using a rule based audience or make sure your upload / CRM report includes domains/websites.
- Check site tracking and integrations for gaps in visit or identification data.
Next steps
- Create or refine audiences that align with your campaign goals.
- Activate relevant audiences to your advertising vendors.
- Use reporting with audience filters to measure effectiveness and iterate.
