By integrating a Channel99 pixel with your Marketo emails, you can:
- Track email opens
- Connect email opens with subsequent website visits from those recipients
This gives you a clearer view of how your emails influence user actions beyond just the clicks they make within the email.
There are two methods for integrating a pixel into your emails:
- Embedding in Email Templates: For HTML emails, insert the pixel into the footer of your chosen template. This one-time setup eliminates the need for repeated insertions in subsequent sends.
- Inserting into Individual Emails: This method allows you to manually insert the pixel into each email. This method is required for plain text emails.

How to Add a Channel99 Pixel to Your Email Templates (HTML Only):
- Go to Design Studio: Start by accessing the Design Studio section.
- Find Your Template: Within Design Studio, locate and open the specific template you usually work with.
- Begin a Draft: Click on “Create draft” to initiate an editable version of the template.
- Access the Footer Module: Scroll or navigate to the footer module of the template.
- Reason for Footer Module: We advise placing the pixel in the footer because it should be present in every email and is typically unaltered. However, if you choose a different module, ensure it's a module that appears in all your emails.
- Insert the Code: Inside the footer module, paste the following code:
- Adjustments to Code: Copy in your unique pixel where it says "PIXEL HERE". Remember, the values for “mktoname” and “id” might also need to be modified. The “id” has to be distinctive. For instance, if “img121” is already in use elsewhere in the template, you'll need to pick a different number. Marketo will notify you with an error if there's any duplication.
- Placement of Code: The exact location to insert the code within the footer module can vary based on its existing content. Generally, it's safe to place it after any “</tr>” tag. Ensure there's a line break before you paste the code.
<tr>
<td align="center" valign="top"><div class="mktoImg" mktoname="img121" id="img121"><img class="em_full_img" src="PIXEL HERE" width="1" style=" max-width:1px; display: block;color: #ffffff;font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12px;" border="0" alt="" /></div></td>
</tr>
